Ardeshir Castle, which is also called as Ghale-Kooh (in Persian the castle on the mountains) due to its construction on a mountain summit around Kerman city, was constructed by the order of Ardeshir of the Sasanian dynasty after the conquest of Kerman city. One of the interesting points of this adobe castle is the thickness of its walls, the walls of the castle are about 6 meters thick. There was another castle similar to this one which was constructed under the command of Ardashir near the city of Firoozabad (in Fars province). Over the years, since this castle was made of adobe, erosion has had a great impact on the destruction of the castle.
The castle was mainly used for military purposes, but the shreds of evidence discovered recently show that even ceremonies, rituals, and celebrations were also performed there.
Ardeshir Castle is surrounded by many tourist attractions such as Zaricf Icebox.
