Shushtar Historical Hydraulic System

Shushtar Historical Hydraulic System is one of the antiquities of Iran which was registered in UNESCO, and it belongs to the Achaemenid and Sassanid periods. The Historical Hydraulic System consists of 13 parts including the dam (a structure to raise the water level), canals, mills, and bridges, all of which are made for using the water of the Karun river for various purposes, including agriculture.

The following antiquities have been registered as the historical water system of Shushtar on the UNESCO World Heritage List:

4. Polband-e Gargar Bridge-Dam
5. Watermills and Waterfalls area
6. Polbande-e Borg-e Ayar Bridge-Dam and Sabeieen temple
7. Polband-e Khoda-afarin Bridge-Dam
8. Salasel Castle
9. Dariun Canal
10. Polband-e Shadorvan Bridge-Dam
11. Band-e Khak Dam
12. Polband-e Lashkar Bridge-Dam
13. Band-e Sharabdar Dam

Shushtar Historical Hydraulic System is one of the architectural wonders in the field of water usage which dates back to more than 1700 years ago.
