Ya’qūb ibn al-Layth al-Saffār is the founder of the Saffarid dynasty. This great Iranian man, who was born in Sistan, had a great role in perpetuating the Persian language. Ya’qūb blamed whoever wrote poetry in a non-Persian language.
Saffarid dynasty can be called the first post-Islamic independent Iranian dynasty.
The tomb of Yaghub Leys Safari, the oldest part of which dates back to the Seljuk period, is located in Shah Abad village, near the city of Dezful in the province of Khuzestan.
