The Shah Nematollah Vali Shrine is located in the city of Mahan, Kerman province. This shrine, along with Shazdeh Garden, is one of the main tourist attractions of the city of Mahan. Seyyed Nur al-Din Nematollah Kermani, known as Shah Nematollah Vali, is from the Sufis and great popular poets of the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries A.D. This great gnostic was noticed by the Timurid kings. Six centuries after the death of this great gnostic, he was still noted by the Shias and the time rulers in Iran. Most of the development of Shah Nematollah Vali’s Shrine was due to the devotion of Abbas the Great, Mohammad Shah Qajar, and Naser al-Din Shah Qajar, which is done during the Safavid and Qajar dynasties.
The main section of Shah Nematollah Vali Shrine consists of two entrance gates, big and small chambers, the tomb, four tiled minarets, and two porches. This shrine has a total area of 3.2 hectares which has inscriptions and beautiful ornaments. The main ornaments used in this shrine are fillets, tiling, and muqarnas. The most significant and central section of Shah Nematollah Vali Shrine is the monument of his tomb, which is constructed in the shape of a quadrilateral pyramid and is about twenty meters above the ground. All around the inner space of this tomb are inscriptions which are carved by Quran verses.
