Sheikh Mohammad Aref Abbasi, known as Pir Palandouz, was a mystic of the 10th century and he was contemporary to Sheikh Baha’i. In addition to being a well-known mystic, he was also a professor of calligraphy and alchemy. However, he decided to earn his living by sewing saddles (Palandouzi). His tomb, which was built based on the order of Shah Mohammad Khodabandeh, father of Shah Abbas Safavi, is located on the northeastern side of the Holy Shrine of Imam Reza and at the beginning of Shahid Navab Safavi Street.
Like other buildings of the Safavid Dynasty, the Tomb of Pir Palandouz has an Islamic-Iranian architecture that dates back to that era. Tomb of Pir Palandouz in 1375 (1996) became one of the works of Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts, and Tourism Organization of Iran.
