The Carpet Museum of Iran is located north of Laleh Park, Tehran. The museum was built in 1976 by the order of Farah Diba (wife of Mohammad Reza Shah Pahlavi). The Carpet Museum of Iran building consists of two floors, the ground floor of which is permanently located in order to present old and new Persian carpets. The second floor is specialized for Persian Rug Exhibitions.
The exterior of this building is inspired by the Persian Carpet loom. Most of the Persian Rugs which keep in the museum belong to the 16th and 17th centuries until the contemporary era, as well as carpets, refer back to more than 300 years. The museum has a carpet library in which there are more than 300 books on the history and type of Persian carpet.
Furthermore, to the Persian carpet, other ancient Persian Rugs are also keeping in the Carpet Museum of Iran, including ancient Gelims, Ziloos, and Gabbehs. The Museum of Iran alongside the National Museum of Iran is among the best museums of Iran.
