In the past usually, the cities of Iran had four gates in the four main directions of the city. The city of Shiraz was no different, the beautiful city that has been the capital of many dynasties ruling Iran. During the Buyid dynasty, several gates were added to the main gates of the city. One of them was the Quran Gate, and because of this, it was told that there was a Quran on top of this gate so that the passengers who went through this gate, may always remain safe due to the Holiness of the Quran.
Until the era of Karim Khan Zand, Quran Gate was abandoned, until he rebuilt it. During the Qajar period, it was also damaged by several subsequent earthquakes that, during the era of 1st Pahlavi, due to the development of roads, it was destroyed partially by the mayor of Shiraz, which was later rebuilt by a prominent businessman from Shiraz.
This monument dates back to around the 10th century, and due to its proximity to the famous Iranian poet Khwaju Kermani tomb, it has been an attraction for tourists from all over the world.
