Shah Mosque is also known as “Royal Mosque”, “Imam Mosque” and “Abbasi Jame Mosque”. This is one of the most important historical mosques of Iran and Isfahan. The precise design and structure of this mosque have made it one of the masterpieces of Iran’s Mosque Industry, which is also an elegant example of Safavid’s architecture, tiling, and wood carving.
Imam Mosque was built in 1611 by the order of Shah Abbas I but the decorations and other parts of it were finished at the era of his posteriors. The diameter of its dome is 5.23 meters and its height is also 52 meters. The length of its Minarets is also 48 meters. Though Imam Mosque is one of the masterpieces of architecture and designing of Iran, it is decorated really simply, which illustrates the belief of its operators to simplicity in Islam.
The mosque is established in UNESCO as one of the World Heritages and is located in the south of Naqshe Jahan Square.
