There is some controversy over the history of Gonbad-e Kabood (The Blue Dome). Some archaeologists believe that this monument is the mausoleum of the Mongolian Hulagu Khan’s mother, but some others believe that the dome was built before Hulagu Khan’s government period. This decagon tower which consisted of two parts (tower chamber and the basement), formerly had a dome that has been demolished over time. The Kabood Dome and Modavvar Tower are within a few meters distance from each other.
